One of the most inspiring teachers at Belmont Secondary that I have had the privilege of observing said a quote to his students last Wednesday when discussing procrastination:
You need to plan your work and you need to work your plan.
People don’t fail to work, they fail to plan.
I love quotes, but this one in particular, not only had I never heard it, but I couldn’t agree more. I really love Mr. Feser’s style of teaching, and the community he builds in each of his classes. I spoke with him one day after class and he emphasized just how much effort he does put in at the beginning of the year to really get to know his students. In a single class he called on most of them by name, and made sure to say something specific about them – tying it in with whatever he was talking about or asking them to do… It made them feel like a valued member of the class community. I hope that I can create this same energy in my classroom, it was positive and palpable!
